in the summer there are several bobcats that frequent the beaver dams on my property….the bobcats would love to take a beaver….however, they look more for small ones and other rodents (muskrat, mice, etc.) smaller ones that frequent these magnificent ecosystems that are beaver ponds. In my videos, bobcats sometimes like to eat frogs!

I love how happy you get! I understand it. I had two skunks on the farm last summer. One was a blackie like your's. I didn't get sharp pics at all but enjoyed them - from a distance! Mama skunk paraded three babies finally. She had a strip. I am guessing "blackie" was the daddy.

Hello Neil, regarding EBL rechargeables, the short use time is both the batteries and your Browning trail cams. I've found that Browning cameras in particular will shut down if the battery voltage gets much below 9.6V. Because NiMh rechargeables run at 1.2V, they can't discharge very far before the Browning trail cam shuts down. So I don't use Browning trail cams, but I have been using EBLs for almost 4 years now with non-Browning trail cams. Thank you for trying rechargeables and keeping those batteries out of the dump!

A friend of mine recently recommended Hixon rechargeable batteries because they last for several months in a trailcam. Sometimes up to a year. The set I have in one camera is still at 100% after two months. They're expensive, but so is buying a lot of new batteries and then throwing them away when they quit working. I saw the video at the end. It'll be awesome when you get a good photo of that! We have a few skunks here. The stripped ones are fairly common, and there are some of the spotted ones higher in the mountains. I have yet to get good photos of either one, though.

I love what you do and love your enthusiasm but I’m really surprised that skunks aren’t a more common sighting there. We used to see them a lot when I lived in coastal Virginia and I get them every night here in Tennessee. It’s really neat how many animals use that den. I have some similar holes here. I should set out a trail cam and see who might visit. Thanks for all your work with the cameras. Great stuff!

Very enjoyable video as usual. I was surprised to hear that there is anywhere in the US where there aren't skunks! aa Eneloop Pros and Ladda. (which are supposedly rebranded Eneloop Pros) easily last a month in my SB-28s and at least a couple months in the cheopo Gardepro trail cameras I use. I do use EBL D cells in D battery holders from Camtraptions to power my receivers and transmitters. Those also last at least a month, or at least they did initially. Now that I've been using some of them for a while, it seems like some of them don't last as long as they initially did.

  • @123ore

I go through. a lot of Battery's also, I started using Habor Freight Battery's and they last just as long as Duracell, but you have to get the blue Thunderbolt Edge ones because they have two types of Battery's, and the price is like $7.99 for 18 of them. Try them and see what you think, and awesome job on the video.

Great work Neil, I have both the Cognsys earlier PIR and AIR units that I purchased about four years ago. I use Camtraptions triggers and receivers along with D cell batteries to power them instead of AAA batteries inside the receiver/transmitter. Camtraptions also sells the housing for the D cells which connect to the receivers and transmitter.

I've used Powerx and Energizer rechargeable batteries in Browning and homebrewed trail cameras for years and can usually get two months out of them, sometimes over three months. You do need a decent charger, not the ones that come with the batteries.

Sweet! I see and smell a lot of skunks in the Kernersville area. Didn’t realize skunks were rare in your area. The ones I see here have a huge amount of white on their tails. Can’t see much black except on the body. I was kind of hoping you’d seen an armadillo! Looking forward to your future videos!!

I worked at the Phosphate Mine in Aurora, NC south of the Pamlico River. There are a ton of skunks there. They live in old discarded pipes. Starting to see them a lot in Pamlico county now too.
